Mechatronics
is a multidisciplinary field that offers rich knowledge in the field of
Mechanical, Electronics, Computer Science, Electrical and Instrumentation.
Mechatronics and Industry 4.0 is todays Industry buzzword as Manufacturing Industries are starving to improve production efficiency in terms of cost, quality and time. Mechatronics has emerged as a right choice for enhancing production efficiency. Industries need Mechatronics specialist who has solid base of Mechanical and Electronics Engineering knowledge in addition to familiarity with Industry 4.0.
Mechatronics
specialist has strong knowledge of Mechatronics system modelling, Sensors, Actuators,
Programmable logic Controllers (PLC), Industrial drives, Fluid power system and
Real-time computer interfacing which has huge demand in Industry. At Innovation,
Incubation and Research Centre (IIRC) of MGM University, we have Factory
Automation Setup by Christiani Sharpline, Germany which integrates
a production system with material sorting and delivery process. This is fully
assembled, wired, programmed and tested system. It is ideally suitable for learning
PLC programming and visualization, as well as for commissioning and
troubleshooting of automated industrial Mechatronics systems.
At IIRC, we
also have Industrial Automation and Drives lab wherein complete setup of
Siemens PLC (IoT enabled) integrated with Human Machine Interface (HMI),
Variable Frequency Drives (VFD) and Supervisory control and distributed action system
(SCADA) and for programming and Simulation, Total Integrated Automation software
(TIA) are available for implementing experiential learning with hands on sessions
for students.
To developed
competency in the field of Mechatronics, knowledge of these emerging technologies
is prerequisite and this knowledge also acts as a foundation in working with
systems which is collectively termed as Industry 4.0. For these applications, state
of the art facilities at IIRC offers a safe and joyful environment for students
to learn various aspects of Mechatronics field.
Industry
4.0 is a combination of cyber physical systems and Internet of things (IoT) in
which machines are connected with each other and they make decisions without
human intervention and that brings the concept of smart factory in reality. Real
time monitoring of manufacturing activities in a factory is necessary as
knowing the working status of machines at any point of time helps in minimizing
the downtime and organizing the factory.
To keep
pace with these developments, enriched setup has been made available in IIRC. Sensory
kit by Pepperl+Fuchs is utilised which can be integrated with Programmable
Logic Controllers to gain deep insights of today’s one of the most demanding technology
named as Industry 4.0.
Industry
4.0 experts generally has strong knowledge in the field of Big data, Augmented
Reality, Robotics, Cloud Computing, Industrial Automation, Internet of things, Cyber
Security and 3D Printing. All these facilities are integral part of IIRC
commissioned under collaboration of industry leaders like Christiani
Sharpline-Germany, Yaskawa-Japan, Zortrax 3D Printer-Poland, Autonomous
Driving-MSC Software etc.
IIRC is a one stop solution where one
can develop competencies required in Mechatronics and Industry 4.0 as courses
designed for students of any branch of engineering can take benefit of these
unique facilities. Courses are designed
in collaboration with Industries and faculties are trained by industry experts.
At IIRC, every effort will be made to turned enthusiast into expert of
Mechatronics and Industry 4.0.
